What is Autism?

Autism is a serious, life long, neurological condition. Autism inhibits the development of communication, socialisation and imagination, causing people with the condition to have difficulties in making sense of the world, forming relationships and developing language. Autism sets in during the early years of life. It affects four times as many boys as girls. No one knows what causes it and there is no cure.
