Telford and South Tyneside Media Workshop makes headlines!

The Parent Participation Project held a Media Workshop in Manchester for parent carers and professionals from Telford & Wrekin and South Tyneside on Friday the 15 January 2010, with great success!
Parents and professionals were given the opportunity to learn the skills needed to build good relationships with the media and tell their stories in ways that engage journalist's interests. In addition, parents and professionals were shown how to give effective media interviews; both televised and through publications.
Parents and professionals that attended, fed back high praise;
“The training was excellent…it was really beneficial having someone deliver it who had a background and 'real' knowledge”.
“Our parents were made to feel at ease, comfortable and were being filmed by the end of the session!”
“Very interesting and relevant for current and future work – really took us out of our comfort zones!”
“Very useful both on a personal and work level”.
“A very valuable experience”.
The workshop was enjoyed by all, and both parents and professionals went away with new skills, and a new understanding of how to make the media work for them to increase the opportunity of services for children and young people with disabilities.
