Oldham Education Campaign Consortium
Oldham Support Group for Carers in Autism (OSCA) was one of the ten groups chosen to participate in the TreeHouse Constructive Campaigning: Parent Support Project (PSP) in the summer of 2006. OSCA set up a sub group to take forward their local campaign objectives, which included the commissioning of research into barriers to providing appropriate education for children with autism.
We are pleased to announce the OSCA sub group has expanded to included representatives from other organisations who also wanted to campaign on these objectives. This has lead to the establishment of the Oldham Education Campaign Consortium (OECC). The Consortium is headed by Bright Futures, with partners OSCA, Fantastic Dyspraxic Kids (FDK), and ASPACE.
This is an exciting development for TreeHouse PSP and parents and carers in Oldham. The aims of the Consortium are to work with stakeholders to plan for service improvement in autism and related developmental difficulties. The consortium is currently commissioning independent research from a nationally recognised research organisation, to analyse the range, appropriateness and availability of educational provision in Oldham.
The Oldham Education Campaign Consortium campaign launch took place at the Civic Centre Hall in Oldham, on the 21 November 07.
