Consultancy
Parent groups regularly contact TreeHouse to ask for information about setting up ABA schools, and many have visited TreeHouse to see our model at work.
Setting up a school can be a daunting, time-consuming and frustrating process. TreeHouse recognises that it can offer support to these groups, and is beginning to further develop its support and information services in this area.
To date we have offered support to three new schools:
- Jigsaw, Surrey: choosing methodology and approach, organisational planning
- Rainbow, South London: wide-ranging support including organisational planning, induction training and curriculum
- SPEAC (Special Provision for the Education of Autistic Children), Belfast, Northern Ireland. In conjunction with the South East Education and Library Board and Tor Bank Special School: wide-ranging support including organisational planning, induction training and curriculum
Schools from Scratch
TreeHouse, in conjunction with the other members of the ABA Schools' Forum, is in the process of writing a guide to setting up a school. The aim is to produce a document that will highlight all of the processes, pitfalls and considerations that will need to be taken before someone embarks on setting up their own school. With case studies and experiences from all of the ABA Schools in the UK, it will be an invaluable source of information to everyone who is thinking about establishing a school.
