Case Study: The Pears Foundation

The Pears Foundation LogoIn November 2005, TreeHouse received a wonderful pledge of £252,638 from The Pears Foundation. This comprises a gift of £200,000 towards the Ambitious about Autism appeal, which is funding TreeHouse’s new National Centre for Autism Education and a donation of £52,638 which is enabling TreeHouse to employ a Policy and Public Affairs Officer for two years.

TreeHouse is thrilled with this support, as this combination of revenue and capital funding will enable us both to continue to deliver high quality services and to secure a permanent home for the organisation.

The revenue funding is for a post in our policy and campaigns department. The post will be central in promoting the autism education policy objectives of TreeHouse through: representing TreeHouse in parliament; working in campaigning consortia; developing authoritative responses to government consultations; and undertaking policy research. Together these will deliver long term improvements in the quality and impact of services for children with autism. This strategic revenue funding from The Pears Foundation is incredibly valuable to TreeHouse.

We are equally delighted with the capital element of this pledge. The Pears Foundation is one of the first supporters of the Ambitious about Autism appeal and it is wonderful to have such early, high-profile support. TreeHouse is also very happy to welcome the Pears family as appeal patrons, which is an excellent endorsement for the appeal.

Trevor Pears, Chief Executive of The Pears Foundation, said: "The Pears Foundation is delighted to support The TreeHouse Trust's Ambitious about Autism appeal. Through the sharing of knowledge and best practice, there is enormous potential to improve understanding of autism and positively affect the lives of thousands of young people and their families around the country."

All of the staff, parents and children at TreeHouse are very grateful to the staff and trustees at The Pears Foundation, for this wonderful support.

TreeHouse is always looking for trust and foundation supporters, who may wish to make a strategic grant, comprising both revenue and capital components. If you would like to discuss this further, our fundraising department would be delighted to hear from you and offer any project information that you might need. Please email the fundraising team or call them on 020 8815 5432.
